China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs announced on April 14 that it had standardised in Chinese characters, Tibetan and Roman alphabet the names of six places in Arunachal Pradesh which China calls ‘South Tibet’. These six places have now been renamed to Wo’gyainling, Mila Ri, Qoidengarbo Ri, Mainquka, Bumo La and Namkapub Ri. To this people in Arunachal Pradesh has reacted and said “We Are Not Chinese, Arunachalees Are Patriotic Indians.”. The Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) strongly condemned it and said “Arunachal is an integral part of India and if we go by history, people of the state had participated in the country’s freedom movement. People here have never been under the Chinese rule,”.
