Armstrong Pame, India’s one of the Best IAS officer who built a 100 km long road in a remote hill of Manipur

Armstrong Pame is an officer in the Indian Administrative Service hails from Manipur. He is known for his brave initiative to build a 100 km road famously known as the “Peoples’ Road” connecting remote village areas from Tamenglong (Manipur) to Haflong (Assam) without government help. People came forward and supported him in large numbers and gave shape to the “people’s road” which connects the hill to the rest of the state. He used his own savings and turned to social networking sites to raise funds for the project and is fondly called “miracle man” by the villagers. In August 2012, he raised INR40 Lakh for this purpose through Facebook page. For his efforts in building road with donation and volunteers he was invited to Facebook headquarters in California.

In 2012, he was nominated for CNN-IBN Indian of the Year in Public service category.
