Rebita Devi, female bodybuilder from India to win International Medal

For the people who still do not know her, she is Kongbrailatpam Rebita Devi from Manipur, India. Rebita Devi, the female bodybuilder from India who has won the International Medal in two different events namely, Wushu and Bodybuilding. She was initially a Wushu fighter, but gradually, she became a bodybuilder and bagged medals for both the events.

Rebita Devi won a gold in the 45 th Senior, 39th Junior, 21st Master, 10th Physically Challenged and 3rd Women Fitness Championships 2011 in 160 cm-above category. She also achieved 5th position in the 4th and the 5th editions of WBPF World Bodybuilding and Physiques Sports Championships of 2012 and 2013 which were held in Thailand and Hungary. She won a bronze at the 49th Asian Bodybuilding Championships 2015 at Tashkent in Uzbekistan and another bronze at the 50th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships 2016 held in Bhutan.

Rebita Devi is an all-rounder sportsperson with multiple skills and have won a lot of medals in various events. Earlier, she was a gymnast, a taekwondo player and also, a boxer. Very soon, Rebita Devi is going to represent our nation in the 9th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship in Mongolia from 3 rd to 9th October 2017.

But the sad fact lies in this extraordinary woman’s hardships with recognition. Her financial condition has proved to hamper her career, and she is still not known to most of the people in India and beyond. It would be a great step if we stand in unity to help her, spread the word, and bring Rebita Devi to light so that she is known to the world, get the required help and achieve the summit in the world of sports.
